Nokia delivers mm02's multimedia messaging services | IBM completes purchase of PricewaterhouseCoopers' management consulting and technology business
Datalex, a provider of technology solutions for the travel and transportation industry, has issued a trading update, saying it expects earnings for the half year to December 2002 to be in line with analysts' expectations. Although the company did not release any figures, it said it expects Q3 revenues to be in line with those of Q2, while fourth quarter revenues are anticipated to be stronger than third quarter revenues. It is thought that revenues for the half-year to December 2002 will come in slightly below expectations. The company said it is confident that cash break-even will be achieved in the near future.
Nokia has been selected by mmO2 to deliver the mobile operator's multimedia messaging services (MMS) to customers in four countries. The deal will allow consumers in all of mmO2's European territories -- Ireland, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands -- to send and receive text, images, graphics and sound, combined in a single message. Nokia will also provide system implementation, integration and care services to maintain the competitiveness of the MMS solution. The service is to launch this month.
Computer giant IBM has completed its purchase of PricewaterhouseCoopers' management consulting and technology business for USD3.5 billion in cash and stock. IBM had announced its purchase of PwC's consulting unit in July this year. PwC Consulting and its 30,000 employees will become part of a new 60,000-person unit called IBM Business Consulting Services. The unit is part of IBM's Global Services unit, the company's largest by revenue.
A date has been fixed for the court hearing to approve a merger of Irish chip designer Parthus and Israeli-based DSP Group, Ceva. The Irish High Court will hear a Parthus petition to approve the scheme on 21 October. Parthus shareholders and the DSP Group have already approved the deal, as reported by href="/news.html?code=8633322">ElectricNews.net last week. Subject to the court's approval, ParthusCeva shares will begin trading on the Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange on 22 October.
HP and Web services software company IONA have expanded their strategic alliance for the delivery of next-generation enterprise integration solutions. The two companies plan to release IONA's Orbix E2A Web Services Integration Platform XMLBus Edition on the HP-UX Operating System, on the Itanium Processor Family. The new offering will increase the companies' portfolio of integrated hardware, software and services solutions for enterprise customers.
Dublin-based eWare has announced a partnership agreement with CRM service provider Appjuice that will expand eWare's offerings in the Netherlands. Under the agreement, Appjuice will act as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) and an Application Service Provider (ASP) for eWare's CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software throughout the Netherlands. Appjuice will also use eWare's software solution in its own operations.
Baltimore Technologies, an e-security software and data encryption company, has introduced a new security toolkit designed for Web Services environments. Baltimore has launched KeyTools XML 5.1, which handles digital signatures in XML documents and messages. The toolkit is fully compliant with the W3C XML Digital Signature specification.
Wicklow-based Salesforce.com is releasing a new CRM (Customer Relationship Management) solution aimed at small Irish businesses. The company's "Team Edition" is designed and priced for groups of up to five users who wish to share critical customer and prospect information. Salesforce.com is offering the product at a special introductory price until 31 December.
