I'm talking mobile again, but this time it's a question of how/if the public are going to be able to access the new services being planned by the mobile manufacturers and the networks.

Myhome.ie scoops three Spider awards
Friday, September 07 2001
by Sheila McDonald

The property and homeowners' portal Web site Myhome.ie dominated the Golden
Spider Irish Internet Awards on Thursday with a total of three wins. The Internet industry awards, organised by dot.ie Internet magazine and sponsored
by Esat Business, are now in their fifth year and drew a crowd of more than 500
to Dublin's RDS on Thursday evening.

Organisers said the awards had drawn more than 1,000 entries for 18 categories.
Myhome.ie won in the Sponsor's Award category, the Best Use of the Internet by an
SME and the Marketing Excellence category.

Topjobs.ie won two awards, Best Recruitment Site and the Best E-business Site,
and Michael O'Leary of Ryanair.com won the Most Significant Contribution to the
Internet Award. Last year Ryanair won in three categories at the awards and on
Thursday it took the prize in the Best International Site category.

Nebula took the prestigious Web Design/Development Agency of the Year Award, the
dot.ie readers vote went to Boards.ie, and the Irish Times Web site Ireland.com
took the Information Excellence Award.

Also winning were Goodbody.ie (Best Financial Site), 12travel.com (Best Travel
Site) Siemens/ICAN (Internet Advertising), Volkswagen.ie (Best E-commerce Site)
and DOL.ie (Mobile Internet).

Entries for the main commercial categories entailed an entry fee, but the awards
also feature free-to-enter categories including Best Personal Site, Young
Person's Award and the Community / Special Interest Award. These went to
Belfast.net, Eirestudent.com and Scoilnet.ie respectively.

The Spider awards are the longest-running Internet industry awards in Ireland,
launched in 1997 by dot.ie to recognise achievement in Web site development and
Internet business.
