19pc of used car sales to be on-line in 2000
Tuesday, April 04 2000
by Dominic Phelan
Research company Forrester is predicting that up to 19pc of used car sales will be influenced by the Internet this year. The growth will come as dealers and individuals move on-line to find the best deals. Forrester is predicting that growing consumer acceptance of buying on-line will force the industry to offer more ancillary services, beyond current offerings like financing, insurance and warranty. The analysts also predict a bridging of the gap between the new and used car trade. In Ireland, on-line auto sites including Autopoint.ie and Autofinder.ie were joined recently by Motormarket.ie, an on-line information and sales site for used cars.
