Ireland's first Digital Media Services Directory has been launched -- a complete, authoritative guide to the growing digital media sector.

Industry support for the directory is substantial, with organisations such as IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, the Digital Hub and Perfect World partnering with Digital Media Intelligence to produce this resource. Copies are available by contacting DMI directly.

"There is an increasing need for a comprehensive reference source of companies in Ireland that are involved in the area of digital media," explains Ms. Samara McCarthy of the IDA. "IDA is pleased to support the production of a digital media services directory that supports these requirements. We hope this directory will allow companies already operating in this area the opportunity to create connections with fellow digital media organisations to aid in the development of this sector. The undertaking of DMI to publish such a directory this autumn should be beneficial to the Irish digital media community and the industries it serves."

The directory was a result of recommendations from the O2 NDMC conference (www.ndmc.info). These recommendations showed a need for greater definition, and understanding of the digital media industry and the companies and people that make it tick.

The Digital Media Services Directory was conceptualised and developed by Digital Media Intelligence with the objective of providing Ireland with a targeted, sector specific guide to digital media. It also aims to provide an opportunity for companies in this emerging sector to establish their brands as key players in the sector.

The directory is divided into two sections. The first contains a series of articles written by leading figures and journalists from the industry. The second will consist of companies operating in the sector, divided into 14 key categories.

The directory aims to be the definitive resource for digital media in Ireland. Listing over 500 organisations, the directory will be circulated to key individuals and companies via Digital Media Intelligence's database, and the top 1,000 companies as identified by Business and Finance magazine. It will also be distributed through the domestic and international offices of the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.

The information will also be available on-line later this year -- ensuring that the directory will be a handy resource for sourcing goods and services in the digital media arena.

This dual approach will ensure that all digital media companies in Ireland will be able to position their business in both the domestic and international marketplace.

About Digital Media Intelligence

Two years ago the Irish government, through its agency Enterprise Ireland, pinpointed digital media as central to the future prosperity of Ireland's internationally traded services sector. Ireland's global reputation for creative talent and its success within the high-tech and software industries made DMI the natural choice to lead the way in this exciting and at times unpredictable landscape.

Digital Media Intelligence was created in 2002 to fill the knowledge gap that exists among the wide range of stakeholders that comprise the digital media sector. DMI's role is to disseminate valuable information to all sectors with the aim of increasing their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
