The company, which over the last 18 months has shed hundreds of jobs in Ireland, said it will retain 150 jobs in Limerick and Shannon, where it has an outlet as part of its repair and reverse logistics service.
Some of the workers cut from the Limerick plant are expected to be offered positions at the firm's Cork operation. From this point forward, all Flextronics manufacturing in Ireland will be done in Cork, the company told workers early on Monday.
The job cuts follow 130 voluntary redundancies announced by the company in March of this year, the same month in which the firm slashed 370 jobs in Tullamore, Offaly, citing difficult market conditions.
Flextronics spokespeople had no comment on the situation when contacted by ElectricNews.Net Monday afternoon.
