O2 Ireland, the company formerly known as Digifone, said on Thursday that it is cutting jobs following its re-branding earlier this month. |
The firm said that as part of a restructuring of its retail business, which will involve the formation of a new retail company called O2 Retail, existing operations will be consolidated and 45 administrative and managerial jobs will be lost initially. O2 controls Cellular World, O'Hagan Communications, Eire Communications and Access Communications in Ireland.
The second phase of the restructuring announced by the firm includes a review of the 100 plus stores nationwide in which 250 people are employed. Regarding job cuts in these retail locations, the company said that further details would be announced in June.
