Irish company Accelerated Encryption Processing (AEP), a provider of Internet data security solutions including ASICs, sub-systems, tool kits and services, announced its new scaleable public key architecture that will be used to build products capable of delivering in excess of 100,000 SSL handshakes per second. The first product in this family, the AEP10KTM, will provide over 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) and is on demonstration at an RSA tradeshow currently on in San Jose, California.

MmO2 has signed an agreement with Unisys Corporation to jointly market and distribute a new range of mobile data services for corporate customers based on Microsoft wireless software and high-speed GPRS mobile data networks. Services will include remote access to e-mail, contacts and calendar information as well as full-colour Internet access.

Network365, a provider of mobile applications to wireless operators, announced the launch of its latest application, eyeWitness with mzone agora, which enables users to share pictures using a camera-enabled mobile device to capture events. The multimedia messaging application has been developed with Imagine Software, a developer in Network365's mzone unity partner programme. The new service is made possible through a series of public and private Web sites.

Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), a German news agency, is to create 20 new jobs in Cork by the end of this year. The company announced on Wednesday that it has chosen Cork as its world base for its English-speaking news service's editing operation for all its international markets. The operation, supported by IDA Ireland, will be known as DPA News International Limited and will be located at a Cork City centre location.

Jupiter Media Metrix, which on Tuesday announced that its planned merger with NetRatings would not take place, said on Wednesday that it would form a special committee of the board of directors to immediately begin exploring strategic options to strengthen its position in the marketplace. The company has retained Robertson Stephens, Inc. to act as an advisor in this process.

Enterasys Networks Inc, an enterprise networking solutions company, has appointed ProfIT Marketing as its PR agency in Ireland.

Senior representatives of Nokia and Omnitel Vodafone have demonstrated the first "rich" call in an end-to-end all-IP mobile network at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.

The VPN security specialisation formally recognises LAN Communications for its knowledge and expertise in designing, installing and supporting Cisco's suite of security solutions, the company said.

Dublin based Anam Wireless launched two new products, expanding into the operator market. Anam's MMX product allows mobile operators to connect thousands of corporate customers and content providers directly into their networks (actually to the SMS Centre, or SMSC). The company also said that its X-MOAT product solves the well-known problem of cross-network SMS applications: that is, SMS applications cannot exchange SMS messages with subscribers of all networks, but are restricted to full interworking with the subscribers of one network only.

Philips introduced solutions for the mobile communications market: a multimedia streaming solution for mobile operators and a new mobile phone range, including a Bluetooth-enabled GPRS mobile phone with colour screen. The new products came alongside the company's other wireless connectivity solutions on demonstration at the 3GSM World Congress in France.

Napster and the big five record labels will go back to court after a month of court-sanctioned settlement talks closed without agreement. The lapsed deadline opens the door for scrutiny of the music industry's licensing practices even as it sets in motion once again legal proceedings that could result in billions of dollars of damages against the pioneering file-swapping service.

Google, the popular search engine company, introduced new pricing for its popular self-service on-line advertising program. The company said AdWords Select, an updated version of the AdWords self-service advertising system with a number of new enhancements, including cost-per-click (CPC)-based pricing, is now available. This pricing plan enables advertisers to pay only when users click their ads.
