Baltimore announces new contract | Entropy extends contract with Eircell

Baltimore Technologies announced that Radiolinja, one of Finland's largest network operators and a leader in new mobile services, has licensed Baltimore Telepathy wireless e-security to build and deploy a complete wireless trust infrastructure for secure mobile commerce. Licensing revenues from this agreement are significantly above Baltimore's average PKI infrastructure contract value and are expected to be recognised in the third quarter of 2001.

Entropy has extended its current contract with Eircell in a project is worth an estimated IEP500,000. The project involves the ongoing development of a suite of web based software applications. Leveraging Entropy's position as an Internet security provider, the application has been made available to Eircell agents who can avail of a fast and secure Internet based application. This solution will reduce time spent processing applications in call centre queues and therefore increases retail productivity and customer satisfaction.

Direct Dial Telecom (DDT) announced significant reductions across all its rates, offering new and existing customers savings of up to 82 percent. Irish owned and managed, Direct Dial was granted a Telecommunications Licence by the ODTR in July 2000 and by the end of 2001, the company will have invested more than IEP1.4 million in developing its international voice and Internet services.

Entrust has been awarded a USD17.6 million contract by BCE Nexxia to deliver enhanced Internet security as part of the Government of Canada's "Secure Channel" project. Secure Channel will help transform the way Canadians access and use government services by providing secure access to key government services and information anytime and from nearly anywhere.

Esat Digifone has launched a new service which will allow followers of Channel Four's Big Brother to get instant updates about the show, anywhere, anytime, via their mobile phones. The service allows customers to receive Big Brother gossip either through SMS text alerts or on their WAP handsets. To register, customers first need to visit digifone-on-line and once signed up they can receive text message updates on nominations and evictions from the house.

Vodafone Group has seen further growth in its worldwide proportionate registered customer base during the quarter ended June 2001. Overall, more than 3 million proportionate registered customers were gained during the quarter together with 7.1 million proportionate registered customers which have been added through stake increases in existing ventures and through new acquisitions. Vodafone's worldwide total proportionate base is now over 93.1 million registered customers. The venture base is now over 202.6 million registered customers. In the Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa Region, over 0.7 million proportionate customers were added during the period together with 1.6 million added through the acquisition of Eircell in Ireland.

IT security company Protect Data Sverige AB, the Swedish subsidiary of Protect Data, has signed a group licence agreement with Telia for the supply of Pointsec, the IT security software program. The agreement gives Telia the option to take out several licences for the software program throughout the year.

NETg announced the development of a new e-Learning curriculum in support of the launch of Microsoft Office XP. The company's XP e-Learning solution, available from late Summer, will cover the full range of Office XP software programmes to enable staff to quickly and effectively prepare for company upgrades to Office XP. The company also announced that it has won a two year contract to provide its e-Learning content to Consignia, formerly known as the Post Office. NETg's e-Learning will be available to 44,000 staff via Consignia's Solstra Learning Management System hosted by Futuremedia. Consignia has introduced e-Learning in support of its migration to Office 2000.

Fourth Millennium, a wholly owned Irish software company, has launched a new range of software products designed to eliminate paper storage and copy typing from offices around the world. The company's software has been developed on an application called ATECT - Applications To Eliminate Copy Typing, which works in conjunction with a product called DocuScan that eliminates the need to use a keyboard and the need to file paper documents for audit purposes as the company's data storage System is Revenue Approved.

Infonet Services Corporation and The Leading Hotels of the World have successfully completed the first of three phases for enhancing LHW's Pan-European call centre operations. With reservation centres in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan handling more than one million minutes of call centre traffic across Europe, LHW selected the Infonet Call Centre Service (ICCS) to consolidate its centres, provide consistent responses to clients, mitigate time zone differences and enhance the quality of call handling between offices.
