NewWorld and Galileo strike deal
Tuesday, August 21 2001
by Stan Van Haasteren
Dublin-based NewWorld Commerce will provide software and services for marketing campaigns to Galileo International.
NewWorld Commerce, which has its headquarters in Dublin, is a provider of automated marketing and campaign management solutions. NewWorld's primary product is an e-marketing application called NewWorld Direct. Galileo is a US-based company that sells electronic global distribution services for the travel industry.
According to the companies, the deal will allow Galileo's marketing staff to create, deliver and track interactive campaigns quickly, cost-effectively and without specialised technical skills. It will use the software to develop and distribute customised and targeted e-mail marketing campaigns related to Galileo-sponsored events, news and its "Eye on Apollo" on-line newsletter. However, neither company would discuss the value of the deal.
The plan is that the NewWorld Commerce products will enable Galileo to enhance its marketing database to gain a better understanding of market needs. Galileo will also use the software to deliver personalised messages that provide value to prospects and customers, fulfil requests and track results on a user level across the spectrum of the company's marketing programs.
"In today's competitive market, providing individualised content and specialised best-to-market technological solutions for our agency customers enables Galileo to distinguish ourselves from our competitors," John Hach, Galileo's acting vice-president, said.
"NewWorld Commerce provides an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use Web-based system that allows us to design and distribute personalised communication in hours," he added. " We are more effectively able to measure results, ensuring our campaigns offer real value while providing maximised returns on our marketing and advertising investments."
In October of 2000, NewWorld Commerce secured USD5.6 million in first round funding led by eVerger. The company was founded in 1994 and its other customers include WorldCom, Heineken, Oracle and Pigsback.com.
