Insure.ie announced on Tuesday that Allianz, AXA, Eagle Star, Hibernian and Royal & Sun Alliance are offering car insurance quotes on its Web site and that it plans to offer new insurance options soon. "We went live with our motor insurance and the government savings scheme and in the next week or two we will add household insurance and hope to have travel insurance soon," Fiona Murphy, marketing manager for Insure.ie told ElectricNews.Net.
The service offers multiple quotations for users to make comparisons between insurance policies. Insure.ie is a joint venture between MDC, a Dublin-based IT consultancy and the Mike Murphy Insurance Group.
The Web site runs on a back-end system called InsureIT, the engine that produces the insurance quotations. InsureIT is built and hosted by MDC and has six employees dedicated to working on it. The engine runs in a development environment called LANSA and creates applications in Java, XML and WML. "Using these technologies brings an ease of maintenance and changes for the system," Mike Dunnion, director of Insure.ie and MDC said. Other competing insurance Web sites including FirstCallDirect.ie and Allianz.ie also run on InsureIT.
The majority of Insure.ie's six staff run the company's customer call centre. Murphy said that the call centre takes questions from users and helps customers who want more information about the quote they have obtained from the Web site.
