Strata3 appoints head of business development | Independent News & Media appoints global director of Interactive Media.
John Mitchell has been appointed head of business development at e-business development firm Strata3. The former Chase Manhattan financial analyst has previously worked with tech firms Hi-Touch and Orbiscom in Ireland and the US.
Sabeo Technologies, an enterprise systems solutions provider, has made three additions to its Dublin team. Kevin Gleeson, who has worked for Interactive Enterprises and Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, has been appointed business development manager responsible for expanding the company's customer base. Roz Baird, formerly of Worldport Communications, has accepted the position of commercial account manager, while Vincent Kiely has joined the Sabeo team as senior UNIX/NT consultant. Kiely has worked for CMG Wireless Data Services and Compaq/Digital.
Prediction Dynamics has appointed Elma Carey as sales director, with responsibility for the firm's worldwide business development effort. Prediction Dynamics is a systematic trading and risk management software company based in Dublin. Carey's previous experience includes working with Hewlett-Packard, Spectron Microsystems (now Texas Instruments) and BEA Systems.
SalesOnline, the on-line advertising agency, has announced two new appointments. Peter Kennedy, formerly of DoubleClick, has been appointed business development manager, while Paula Mythen has been hired as operations manager from ElectricNews.Net.
The Innovation Group (TiG), a provider of e-procurement solutions to the financial services industry, has appointed Geoffrey Squire to the position of non-executive chairman. Squire is also vice-chairman at Veritas Software and a director of several other public and private companies within the Warburg Pincus portfolio. In addition, Paul Smolinski has been appointed finance director at TiG, joining the company from Compaq UK & Ireland, where he was finance and administration director.
Independent News & Media has appointed Richard Withey as global director of Interactive Media. Previously managing director of Independent Digital (UK), Withey will now be responsible for the group's interactive strategy and for benchmarking digital activities, while retaining responsibility for the UK Digital Division. Withey joined Independent in 1999 after 12 years at News International, where he was director of new media.
Stephen Timms MP, the Minister for School Standards at the Department for Education and Skills, has been appointed e-commerce minister in the UK. The appointment was part of a government reshuffle after Transport Minister Stephen Byers resigned on Tuesday. Timms, a former telecoms consultant, is moving to the Department of Trade and Industry to take on responsibility for government policy on broadband rollout.
Sprint has announced the appointment of Christian Moeller as regional president of Sprint Europe, where he will have responsibility for all operations within the region. Before joining Sprint Moeller was regional vice president for Ebone, the European broadband IP and optical-networking firm that was recently acquired by KPNQwest.
AT&T chief financial officer Charles Noski is set to leave the company when its restructuring and breakup is complete. The telecoms firm said Noski will stay until the forthcoming merger of AT&T Broadband with Comcast, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. No successor has been named but AT&T said the company has begun seeking a new chief financial officer.
The Internet Corp for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking a new chief executive officer and chief policy officer, following the announcement of two imminent resignations. CEO Stuart Lynn will retire in March 2003, while chief policy officer Andrew McLaughlin will resign in July. McLaughlin, who will be retained by ICANN on a part-time basis to assist in the company's current restructuring, will return to Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, from which he was originally recruited.
3Com has announced the appointment of Mario DiMascio as sales director for voice products for 3Com Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In his new role, DiMascio will be leading 3Com's team of voice sales and network consultants to drive end user awareness of 3Com's family of NBX(R) networked telephony systems. Prior to joining 3Com, DiMascio was European sales director for a media streaming company.
