Staffware appoints new executive director | Cognotec names Paul Fox as its new chief operating officer

IT solutions company BIC Systems has appointed Michael J. Rogers as non-executive director of BIC Systems Group. Rogers was previously managing director of The Bull Cara Group and has 35 years experience in the Irish IT industry. Michael currently holds a number of non-executive directorships and is a member of the NCAD Advisory Board.

The board of Staffware plc announced that Paul Young has been appointed an executive director of the company. Young joined Staffware in 1987 and held a number of posts, progressing from development to technical support and then onto positions in consultancy and sales.

Qualtrace Solutions, the Cork-based quality and risk management specialist, announced the appointment of Rajiv Varma to the position of development manager. He previously spent 15 years with Honeywell-Measurex in Ireland and the USA where he was responsible for the design, development and delivery of software solutions for real-time measurement and control systems in manufacturing environments. Varma also spent two years as software development manager with Motorola.

Cognotec, a provider of e-commerce FX dealing solutions, has announced the promotion of Paul Fox to the post of chief operating officer. Paul was previously chief technology officer. Fox originally worked for the company in the late 1980s as a software project engineer and returned to Cognotec in 1998 from Siemens-Nixdorf where he was general manager in charge of the Global Center of Excellence for Secure Electronic Commerce in Dublin.

Eontec, a provider of enterprise java banking software, have appointed Andy Staniewski as senior vice president of Eontec's Canadian operations in Toronto. He joins from Netron, a Toronto-based software firm specialising in application development products and services. During his 17 years there, Staniewski held a number of positions including chief operating officer, vice president of sales and marketing, and most recently, president.

David Potter, chairman of Symbian, has assumed the role of interim executive chairman of the company at the request of the supervisory board. Previously, he was non-executive chairman. The Symbian board has also appointed as interim joint chief operating officers Thomas Chambers, chief finance officer, and Kent Eriksson, director of programme management. The appointments have been made pending the appointment of a new chief executive officer.

Tamoo has appointed David Kelly as sales and marketing manager. Kelly has just returned to Ireland from Sydney where he established and ran an IT training and consulting company. Prior to this he was a senior sales executive with Softech Computers in Dublin for a number of years.

Point Information Systems has appointed senior CRM professional, Eleanor Simpson as its vice president of sales for EMEA. She joins Point from CRM vendor Octane she was strategic accounts director for EMEA.

Logica has announced a number of changes to its board. Andrew Given is appointed deputy chief executive, Seamus Keating is appointed group finance director and joins the Logica board, Richard North is appointed as a non-executive director and will become chairman of the audit committee upon Richard Wakeling's retirement; and Helmut Mamsch is appointed deputy chairman. Andrew Given joined Logica in 1990, having previously been group finance controller of Plessey. Seamus Keating has been with Logica since 1999 as director group finance, and joined Logica from Getronics, having been finance director of Olivetti Solutions. Richard North is currently group finance director of Six Continents PLC, while Helmut Mamsch is a former member of the board of management of VEBA AG (now E.ON AG) and was concurrently chairman of Veba Corp., Veba Electronics Inc. and MEMC Electronics Materials Inc. in the USA.
