Metromedia Fibre Networks, the company that has announced a USD75 million data centre investment for Ireland, has appointed Noel Meaney as its general manager.

Formerly Meaney worked as country manager for Computer Associates International in Ireland for six years, where he was responsible for the e-business product group for Ireland, Scotland and Israel. Meaney is succeeded at Computer Associates by Matt Brennan who was previously responsible for the enterprise product division at the company.

The Nasdaq-quoted Metromedia Fibre Networks Ireland, through its subsidiary Abovenet, is building a data centre in Dublin's Citywest business park, due to open next spring. The facility, which will be Metromedia's largest in Europe, will employ 70 people in hardware, network and software support.
